Dating A Cancer Woman and What to ExpectThis is a continuation of dating a Cancer series of posts. To get a complete overview of what to expect when dating the energy, please read Dating a Cancer before reading this post. You can also check out Dating a Cancer Man.

Astrology is as complex as we humans. We are not one sign; we are all the signs. Different parts of our personality can be described by the qualities of the planets. The point is to integrate aspects of ourselves into a unifying whole. I will describe the Cancer woman to understand how the Cancer energy operates and is expressed through the female lens.

No matter what planet the person has in Cancer, its energy will be determined by that planet and the overall health of the chart. Thus, also determining the frequency of higher or lower expression. This post is a general overview, encompassing themes of Cancer’s emotions, affection, desires and sexual nature.

Dating a Cancer Woman, what to expect and why she may not be for you.

The first water sign in the zodiac wheel with the motto “I feel,” Cancers irrationally and inherently understand their potent feeling nature. Significantly a form of innate expression, it symbolizes the womb–the first experience of life-giving water we share with something outside of ourselves is a connection to another. Without words but pure intuition, we ‘feel’ that connection to someone.

Cancer is the mother that holds life and feels it in her body in non-tangible and tangible ways. Wired to incubate life in a safe haven at the most basic nurturing level, Cancers feel a divine connection, a proverbial umbilical cord to their environment.

The world is her womb; she is connected to everything through her incredible instinctual power. The Cancer intuition reminds me of a clip I had seen long ago that went viral for its visceral message of divine love, compassion and our human connection to each other. It took place on a commuting transit with a disturbed, seemingly clinically insane man screaming incoherently in tears at the back of the bus.

Naturally, he was scaring other commuters, who watched frightened as he suffered. Others were indifferent. There was a geriatric woman who looked to be straight out of a fairy-tale book with her head scarf and wrinkles of wisdom on her face. She would have just been part of an everyday scene transiting from A to B. But that day, when the disturbed individual paced up and down that bus while all were shaken in effect, this woman sat stoic, watching until the man was close enough to grab hold of his hand and pull him in a warm, comforting only-a-mother-can-give type of embrace. With her grace, she also had a fearless aura, like a mother protecting her cub. The guy fell into her arms, sobbing while she rubbed his back and hands. Rocking her head as if he were a crying baby needing just a bit of love and consideration.

Cancer Power

The divine mother. The maternal instinct, inherently in the Cancer energy to embrace the sick, the downtrodden, and the abandoned back into its warm waters. What brings Cancer joy is the comfort she can give and the comfort that life gives her.

The Moon and Venus

The Moon and Venus represent the divine feminine aspects in all of us. We find our love nature, sensitivities, comforts and preferences in the qualities of the sign and the functions of life the planet’s accentuate and occupy.  Describing our needs and desires, the Moon and Venus are strongly emphasized in a woman’s chart for its yin inward expression.

Its feminine qualities are offset by a zodiac sign’s quality. For example, the expression is forceful if it is in outward, masculine fire energy. It can also show level of gentleness, whether it is cold in nature or accommodating to your needs.

The Moon naturally rules Cancer. Dating a Cancer woman with the Moon involved is the ultimate caregiver. The homemaker who is likely happy to be one. She is the epitome of a caring and doting mother warmed by family and can even indicate the comforts given by her own mothers, the feminine energy she inherited. The Moon tells a story about her past and the patterns she carries throughout her life. The moon’s light is strong in Cancer and illuminates its best qualities. When expressed on high vibration, it will know just when to comfort you and when to give you what you need.

When afflicted and poorly aspected, Cancers can be an emotionally erratic mess to a cold retreating hypersensitive energy. Many reasons stem from unsavoury behaviour. Her hypersensitivity is either from a lack of awareness of her needs or a lack of boundaries to realize how to nurse herself. If her needs have never been met, there can be frustrations and limitations in expressing her most illuminating qualities of compassion and sympathy. She is in reactive mode. A chain of erratic behaviour is common.

The Moon is subjective and enables healthy expression when needs are met. When self-nursed, they become better at tuning into the needs of others and the environment. They are the womb–requiring and holding it.

Venus

Venus in the chart is what we value. Our preferences and our individual expression of beauty. In a woman, Venus symbolizes her goddess-like nature. For Cancers, it can either stabilize or destabilize her Cancerian emotions and inform or deform her intuitive nature. Generally speaking, Venus in earth sign can help contain her sensitive waters. The air Venus can give sensibility to her Cancer expression— a healthy detachment to her subjective world. The fire goddess helps creative expression but can also spark unhealthy behaviour and add optimism to get them out of a rut. Water Venus adds to the shade of her emotional self.

A Venus Cancer is subjective. Her values are outlined from a personal standpoint seeing reality from a feeling, private place. Family is comfort. Personal space is a must. They are the hoarders of memory, heightening their sensitive nature to patterns of the past. How they nurture you, if they do at all, indicates the past they hold onto, will determine their level of doting and the love and affection given. Venus in Cancer can be an indulgingly selfish combination without personal boundaries outlined to settle emotional ruts effectively.

Mars

Along with her will, what drives her, Mars in a woman’s chart is what she finds desirable in a man. She is aggressive in the fire and air masculine sign. The go-getter. She is passive in earth and water and would prefer to be wooed than pursue a potential lover. (can be offset with a masculine Venus or Rising sign)

A Mars in Cancer turns the aggression softer, less blunt and forceful. But don’t get it twisted emotions still run high, and a Cancer Mars can force their emotions on you. The low expression can turn erratic from starved needs. On a high, the warrior Mars will defend her homestead. This mama bear energy has no qualms about striking in defence of her cubs or those she cares for. She will also fight for personal expression.

Her sexual appetite is colored in her Mars sign. In Cancer energy, she wants someone who can make her feel comfortable. She won’t have a problem guiding you. Foreplay is all about comfort, feeling cared for and getting to know each other before you are invited between the sheets. Her turn-ons and erogenous zone will be her breasts, stomach, and chest. Focus on that, lather it up with warm touches, and she’ll show you how warm her fluids can get.

If you have Mars energy, water trines or earth that grounds it, you have a leg up. She is looking for someone solid internally and emotionally. You will find that dating a Cancer Woman is someone who reflects her sentimental nature. Someone that can dive down her emotional waters and breath them.

Mars in Cancer reminds me of Ben Affleck’s character in He’s Just Not That Into You. While all the guys gather to play video games after being fed, Ben Affleck’s character is the only one who helps the woman clear and clean up after everyone. There is a scene in the quiet humdrum of the kitchen after the buzz of forks and spoons scrapping has muted to the drips of the faucet. We see his back turned, his energy satisfied from washing all the dishes—helping the woman with care. He seems zen in his consideration for giving a hand. Mars in Cancer is happy to help around the house. Finds it necessary to the point of elation.

Sun

In modern times, the Sun serves neutral influence on both men and women. It can also represent the mother for some. However, males and females can have significant differences when it comes to their Sun qualities. For example, if we were to assign the Sun to the father in two different charts of siblings, one being a female and the other being male, both can have different points of view of their fathers based on gender. The male will see the father figure he is to become identifying shared gender aspects. The father’s influence might be the physical strength and protection he shows and provides for the family or lack thereof.

The son will grow into his Sun based on his gender bias compared to his sister, who sees a father figure perhaps in a similar light and could possibly inherit what she sees growing up, but the main difference being she will also look for it in her potential mate. Generally, there is a kind of separation or integration based on physical gender. There are, however, many factors to consider whether her Sun dominates over her Moon. (Her Moon can represent her father too!)

Sun in Cancer woman naturally lean on its feminine aspect and often have family priorities over career–emphasizing the cultivation of home over reaching a top-level exterior status.  When dating a Cancer woman expect that her emotions, her sensitivity may be expressed openly and with spirit.
