Grounding Gemini Energy: How The Other Parts of my Natal Chart Help
If a season astrologer were to first meet me, they’d likely guess my Ascendent was at the cusp of the twins. Physically, I’m textbook Gemini with my gumbo skinny frame, my youthful appearance and my unsettling nervous tension, routinely skittering me out of the spotlight, so to avoid prying eyes that may discover my hidden state of limbo.
During my youth, adolescence and twenties, I’d find myself chronically dashing off in the middle of a sentence. It had become an internal mix between an overfueled energy to having difficulty reaching any decision. So many options! Though, this kept me objective and energetic—which kept me adaptable socially—on the flip, I easily lost focus. My energy was scattered, unsettling and restless. In hindsight, I realized that the cycle was to avoid myself by jumping from one interest to another, one group of people to another. But, being the impressionable Gemini, I absorbed much of it without a filter, generating more input than output, ultimately crashing my system. With a deluge of outside influences, and my curiosity feeding the fuel, I continued to lose who I was in the process. What I needed was to sift through my thoughts, separate the wheat from the chaff to figure out what would satisfy and ground my hyper-sensitive Gemini currents.
Did I mention I was also a Gemini Moon? Yup, double whammy. Gemini’s are great conversationalist and fit into many social situation because of our objective leanings, keeping us detached and unbiased. This adaptive quality is driven by an insatiable curiosity. Reading, communicating, researching are my lens on our vast world. Basically, my thirst for knowledge journeyed me in all corners of the earth, figuratively and literally. You could say I knew a little about a lot of things. Since the Gemini disposition isn’t known to be reflective, I hardly took stock of my mental library. The shelves often in shambles after materials borrowed. Without maintenance and an influx of data coming in, the aisle space filled as high as the shelves, departments spilt onto the other; my mind became an archive mess. I collected for the sake of knowledge and hardly connected to who I was inside. I was overwhelmed by the poor system and became detached with my own treasures. I was at a lost and when I was forced to figure out who I was or what I wanted, with all the chaotic Netflix-like option in my head, it was hard to tell. I had no idea the answer was buried in the vast world I accumulated, it was just matter of doing the work to find it. For a Gemini, this was anguish. Why would a light, airy sign want to do this? It had other things to do then go in dark, old places.
Sometimes we forget that we have exactly what we need to help us out.
I was a curious by nature not only because of my Gemini syndromes, but to get to the bottom of things, it was my Scorpio qualities that carried the shovel. I just never applied it to myself. Having Scorpio energies—along with other fixed signs— is what helped center my dispersed airy expressions. I looked to the planets Venus, Uranus, Sun in Scorpio and Jupiter in Leo in the 2nd house for sustained efforts.

Venus represents what I truly want and what gives me satisfaction. I needed to get in touch with my core(Scorpio) values (Venus), it was connected the fifth house of creativity—where the stellium of Scorpio planets gather. This also extends to Leo(natural ruler of the 5th house) in the 2nd house(naturally ruled by Venus)and owning who I am and my values. My Sun, which signify my goals, spirit, and what makes my heart flutter, also needed to be activated. Since Uranus sits in the middle of these two personal planets, his individualistic, off-beat influence is strong in my life, therefore was also considered. These elements to my chart jump-started an unwavering, unbeaten path to satisfaction by searching for my passion.
But the passionate and committed nature inside weren’t enough, I still didn’t to know where to place these sustaining elements and find the tools to keep me on track. Gemini’s are known to get easily distracted—I didn’t stop being curious about other things —I just had to have a reason to get my priority straight and find other parts in my chart to keep me grounded in the everyday.
On the other end of the communicative sign of Gemini is the enterprising sign of Sagittarius. A sign which dominates my 6th house of daily routines, health and how I work—with three conjuncting planets: neurotic Mercury, lit up Mars and the evasive Neptune—each of them effecting my Gemini vitality since my ruler is Mercury. With Sag there, I naturally avoided all the little details—the same details necessary to build the blueprint to my goals. Mars there made me impatient, while Neptune weakened my ability to stick to a timeline or the end goal. So, I may have the visions (Sag) and the passionate goals (Scorpio) but what I needed was a purpose and the practical energy that would help me build and see it through till the end.
There was pattern in my life, it came in the form of the men I dated and the friends I attracted or gravitated towards. They were the efficient types, calm in demeanour, and most of all, loyal. They were all Virgo Suns or had strong Virgo currents in their chart. I adored their bent on perfection. Even though it often bordered OCD or a kind of skepticism and rigidity, this was the boost I needed. It was refreshing to be around someone who enjoyed the fine details in life or who could be relied on to do the job right. It felt like my quest was gifted by these pragmatic and reliable spirits. My thoughts confirmed when I discovered my North Node in Virgo in the 4th house and what it meant. In short, your North Node in your birth chart is your soul journey, your mission in life. The sign that it falls in are the qualities you must develop and the house the area of focus to help you on that journey with the Universe often pointing you in the right direction. In my case, these Virgo souls were strategically dropped in my life, giving me a lesson or two on hard work, getting a routine down, being practical and setting limits for myself and with others. WTF????? was the natural impulse from my Gemini disposition.
I knew I had a lot of hard work ahead of me.
Triggered by my North Node realization and with Mercury being in its own home in the 6th house, I was able to use Virgo spirit to my benefit. The Virgo aspects in my chart were the mental staff I needed to help me sift, discard and organize the archive I had collected over the decades. My restless nature slowly steadied(a Virgoan speed) once I started to appreciate all the steps necessary to reach the goals I wanted to achieve. I’m not gonna lie, it took years to develop a liking for the small details, but now it’s become a fetish. Because my NN in Virgo sits in my 4th house of foundation, I started to build my collection from the ground up while I had to confront and clear all that had been forgotten, avoided and even abused. The opposite of the NN is the South Node in Pisces in the 10th house. The qualities of the SN sign and house are our natural gifts, what we bring into this life, giving it less focus, yet integrating it into your NN mission. I was on my way to growing out of the dreamy, hazy sign and concentrate on me as an individual—what I wanted without outside expectations, obligations & status.
This was around the same time I was about to have my Saturn return in Virgo. And by coincidence, the same time I was understanding Saturn in my birth chart. Being the authority figure, who represents limitations, gave me a few indications on where I was stifled—it was in self-expression. Since I could remember until about the age of 30, I had speech and written impediments. There was a disconnect to what I could minutely grasp from how I translated it to the world. It was a long drawn-out challenge to place my experience and thoughts into words. I felt imprisoned by my communicating disabilities, a sore spot aggravating frustration. It was the silent mania that was probably at the root of my restless Gemini nature. An angry mob of thoughts held up by Saturn as the warden of my third house—naturally ruled by Gemini—of communication. Like prisoners, he controlled who I talked to in the outside world and when I was allowed the visits.
If there’s one sign in the zodiac you can’t hold down it’s the sprite and resourceful Gemini.
I nurtured and plumped the limitations I consistently endured. My gemini nature probably overcompensated for the inadequacies I felt by collecting more information than was necessary.
Saturn in Virgo was one of the most important layers to grounding a high-octane, easily diffused energy. When he returns to the same sign of your natal Saturn, he prepares you—which takes a few grueling years—by whipping you into shape in order to advance into a new stage in your life called adulthood. Years before my release, I adapted to the nature of Saturnian diet and routine, refining my place in the community—third house meaning—I would soon integrate into, stripping me to the core of my purpose. With this, he gave me the instructions on how to arrange my mental archive, the strict librarian structuring the database of my mind—the third house is also considered the mind and the foundation of thoughts and speech for the chart holder, informing a classifying system that’s helped my Gemini’s natural disposition to learn, collect, find and access materials easier. It was the order to the flow of circulation.
Wherever Saturn is in the birth chart, is where the person will find mastery, where you’ll put the time and effort, but also the karmic lessons that must be learnt before beginning that part of your journey. He just happened to be guarding the door to my natural Gemini home in the natal chart. Looking back, I felt more like a sleeper robot. The lord of karma waking me from the latent writer that would finally steady my overcharged Gemini currents.
I believe life is unfolding as it should and having to accumulate all that I did—even though I got lost in it—I found my way back with a whole bunch of experiences and information I’ve continually resourced for my craft. It’s been a long process and it don’t expect the learning and discovering to stop, after all, I’m still the curious Gemini, I’ve just got some friends and neighbours to help keep me in-check.
How do you balance the imbalance of your chart?
