Planets in Astrology: Weaving Our Unique Personality

Shining her full silvery glow on the coast of Byron Bay in Australia, sparks of light dancing on the water, it was easy to be mesmerized by the close proximity of the moon that night. We had sat in the sand for hours, bathing in a sense of magic, comfort and calm. Evoked by the wonders of life, the cosmic connections, the unspoken intimate link ,we couldn’t help but feel under her shimmering presence. That was over 10 years ago and that incandescent glow still comforts me today, along with one other experiences I have had in close in proximity to her lunar majesty.

Throughout the ages, there have been songs about her, lore and stories that praise, revere her name.

She’s been made deity through the times, inspired by myths and legends. Our sense of time and order is rhythmic to her cycles. We have connected her ebbs and flows with fertility, her changing tides to rainfall, rebirth and death, making her synonymous to the feminine energies, intuition, the mysteries of our inner world and maternal instinct.

She is the counterpart to the bright, giver of life, the Sun. Equally as mesmerizing as the Moon, yet we feel a different energy from the Sun’s golden rays. While the Moon soothes an internal calm, massaging our senes to slumber and reprieve, the Sun gives us vitality. Both nourishing in their own right, there is a sense of retreat and withdraw into comfort with the Moon, while the Sun we are energized to rise and inspire outward action. We feel the Sun rays in our material being. A light that lifts our spirits, giving motivation and purpose to create.

The Moon is our light within and the Sun is our light we shine forth. The two luminaries that represent intuition and ego, emotion and reason, mother and father in astrology. The balance of the Yin and Yang. Both play a role that symbolize different parts to our lives and of our personality, along with the other cosmic bodies in the solar system, which include other personal planets Mercury and Venus. These two bodies orbit inside the earth, representing our inner functions—the mind and emotions. Outside of the native sphere are the outer planets which “relate to accumulation to outer experiences and its implications.” These planets are Mars, Jupiter, Saturn.

The moment you took breath, the positions of each planets and the relative connection to each other create the blueprint of your unique personality. The ease and challenge of expression are signified in aspects, which are patterns and connections formed between each celestial body.

As life continues, so do the movements of each cosmic bodies throughout our beat in time. When we work with the rhythms of the cosmos we become synced to our own personal rhythms.
