Saturn in Aquarius Retrograde 2022: How to make the most of the period

Saturn in Aquarius Retrograde 2022 I always look at the Saturn Retrograde period as a time of relief. When we don’t feel as much of the restrictions the father-figure of the cosmos likes to impose on us. It’s a time when we can take a bit of a break from the pressure to perform at our very best. When limitations set by Saturn during the transit dissolve and burdens of exceptions and obligations seem to lift in weight.

With the sweet taste of freedom—from what oftentimes feels imprisoning and isolating, it’s tempting to abandon all faculties and completely let go. Without any restraint, the period can easily become a slippery slope of a disorderly mess for some. The ease of tension can quickly turn into a lack of motivation without Saturn breathing down our backs. Our boundaries during the period tend to also disappear, along with the goals set and the road getting there can become wayward. A bit of self-discipline is still called for.

We are constantly working with the energy of a planet—relative to parts in us associated with the qualities of the planet. When a planet goes retrograde, it is closer to the earth and its qualities turn inward, radiating the attention to our personal needs.

Where Saturn is concerned, summoning up our inner authority, knowing our boundaries and practicing discipline is the name of the game. If self-retrain doesn’t come easy, the inward journey is that much more significant with the Saturn Retrograde. It will be all about de-constructing and re-establishing to understand what that means. It can also turn into a period when our fears become highlighted, insecurities become more pronounced. Hard truths revealed. It’s a time when the obligation is placed on the inner self, we can focus on our inner goals, reflective of the area of life Saturn Retrograde Transits and our own natal Saturn.

Saturn Lessons in the expression of Aquarius

We are all in different stages of our evolution. The lessons of Saturn will differ in degree and extremity. Wherever you are in the spiral (hopefully upward), and whatever function of life it is influencing, we can all continue to discover more about ourselves and accelerate further in the expression of Aquarius, by stretching beyond the known, perhaps towards more authenticity, or by contributing for humanitarian purposes.

Those with strong Saturnian energy may feel they are above all this ;), which would be more of a reason to evolve beyond those limiting thoughts. If you’re on a higher rung of evolution, I assure you, there are still ways to go. Polish off that perspective and re-assess what has been built thus far to stabilize in further growth. As a timid, young and boundless grasshopper, hard truths can be revealed— in other words, it is a solid period to evolve.

Aquarius is fixed in nature, it apparently” knows” what it knows. On a steady course, it can get stubborn in its ways. A good indication to check in on whether knowing what you know aligns with authentic growth and isn’t bound by constricting, comforting patterns. Aquarius is also a cerebral sign and envisions the future. Write down ideas, and use that Aquarius mind power. Create a road map to get to new heights, eliminate roadblocks, and new, alternative ideas to achieve it.

Also known for its rebellious behaviour, the period can also point to fear of expressing our uniqueness, of being different in the eyes of another, of community. A sign that is dichotomous in nature, it is both individualistic and community-oriented. The energy that seeks individuality but longs to belong. The solution is in the signs polarity. Its highest expression is through integration— by owning our unique qualities and contributing them to the whole of society.

Redefine what is known so far, push limits in practical, sensible ways… and get serious about it.

Transit Retrograde Saturn in Aquarius in houses, some examples:

6th —Is about daily grind, work, tasks and health routines. We must attend to our 6th house, to keep the complex mechanics of life in flow. Loose threads and constant snags can disrupt, and impede overall life efficiency. It’s about envisioning alternative ways to keep you staying motivated. As a health house, it also covers addiction and if this applies, it’s a good time to go to your past and re-assess fears and inadequacy attached to unhealthy habits and the conditions that have brought you to your current state. When it comes to work peers and employees, it’s about rebuilding a better environment, one that promotes a sense of camaraderie, community and mutual respect, to help sustain growth. Enforce change for the benefit of all.

7th — If Saturn is transiting here and you find yourself thirsting for a partner, now will not be the time to lose all faculties and jump into a new relationship. Self-restrain and keeping boundaries is still called for. If this is challenging, looking within is the perfect time to find out why. If you’ve been attracting the wrong partner or have a fear of commitment, it’ll be about re-assessing fears and past patterns. Saturn wants you to gain self-respect in order to attract a substantial and worthy partner. Growth in this area of life is about stretching out of your comfort zone and envisioning and planning for it. Instant gratification replaces long-lasting satisfaction.

8th — intimacy—involving shared resources, sexual bonding; income made from loans, taxes, investments or your deepest desires and power.  As the give-and-take house, the lessons with Saturn Retrograde are about finding the balance. Where power is taken and given. Saturn can turn this area arid. All to level it up. It’s the authority figure wanting you to harness your own power from the depths. To build resources that will last and to join intimacy that is free of the shackles of the past, to achieve lasting symbioses. To make Saturn proud, look above, beyond, within and without to move this area of life growing and thriving. Know your obligation to others, by knowing what they are to yourself. Be responsible with investments. Own deep powers of authority.
