Saturn Retrograde in Capricorn Apr 29 – Sept 18 2019

I’ll never forget the feeling I got whenever my militant father came home from work, the mood always seemed to get heavier, my siblings and I always felt his eyes on our every move, play time halted and turned into obligations. He was the sergeant placing order into his soldiers and commanding respect whenever he entered a room. This is similar to how Saturn initially operates.

He is the disciplinarian teacher, in mythology, he was Chronos, Father Time. He transits a sign for about 2-1/2 years, giving hard lessons & long trials in the themes of a particular sign in certain areas of life. In a personal chart, he is where we feel constricted and constantly inadequate. It’s the area we develop mastery over time with hard work, consistency and tenacity, where things get real. Since Saturn is in its home sign of Capricorn, it operates to the best of its abilities. Capricorn energy is about work, ambition, organization.

When Saturn goes retrograde, it’s like the boss going on vacation. Obligations and duties lift, minimizing the pressures related to the house he transits. But without anyone lighting a match under our ass, it could also mean feeling unmotivated, causing procrastination, straying from our goals or what we’ve set out to do so far.

To make the best of it, look back and review, rework, restructure what we have built so far. This can come in all scenarios—how you think, levels of relationships, your career, or finances etc. It’s a way to reassess our own expectations vs. outside obligations and to look over what’s been causing limitations, creating dysfunctions, or become outdated.

Once Saturn goes direct in Cap, we should have a better idea of where we want to continue to focus energy, where to place hard work and set our own standards. Once he moves into another part of our life, if the lessons and trials have been fulfilled, we should have moved up the ranks and become our own authority in a certain area of life.
