Sun & Uranus Natural Polarity: Uranus in Gemini and Exploring How Your Ego Might Be Blocking Your Evolution

Sun and Uranus Natural Polarity

Key Elements:

  • Sun and Uranus Relationship
  • Pluto Aquarius Trine Uranus in Gemini
  • Pluto Leo Generation Transformations
  • Neptune in Aries Enhanced Individuality
  • Uranus Aspects Sun Sign Elements

Why is it important to evolve based on Uranus transits?

  • To move out of a rut
  • A good ego check-in
  • To contribute authentically in the Gemini Uranus changes
  • It is the Uranian/Aquarius Age!

No matter where you are in the journey with Uranus changes and growth, it will at some point transit significant personal angles and planets. In a previous post, I covered the ways that Saturn’s relationship to Uranus can challenge you to move into the unknown and the awareness that helps you leap forward. Now, we can look at the Sun, your ego signature, path and purpose to understand blockages to progress and expansion.

What is the Sun in our charts? What does our Sun Sign tell us about our ego identity?

On a physical level, it is what gives us life. Helps all life survive and flourish. Symbolically, our natal Sun is similar in a way that is necessary for our growth and development. It is the essential nutrients that move us forward, keep us motivated, and provide purpose. When we ignore our Sun sign needs, we can lose our way, feel hopeless and lifeless.

We carve out our ego identity with our Sun sign expression.

Uranus is similar in that it represents the part of us that seeks to express individual identity. The house it sits in tells you where and how you see, do or act differently. While Uranus transits reveal which part of your life is ready to evolve with you.

So what is the difference?

The Sun ego identity is grounded in reality. The “I” that separates you from everyone else. Your sign cultivates self-importance, goals, status, career choices within context (house placement) constructed to give you a sense of belonging.

Uranus individuality means expressing yourself beyond ego. The energy operates on gut instinct. You act beyond what you’re expected or taught to do. You venture off because you’re called to do so and it feels right. You do it cause it is authentic to you. You can stand your ground without approval or people who agree.

When you answer a Uranus call, you are moving into the unknown, something that your ego might not like, as it can feel uncomfortable. But you do it anyway and that transcends your ego identity.

It can feel sudden, but that is only because the initial whisper of growth was disregarded. Uranus nudges at first. The sparks of ideas come to light in spurts when Uranus is approaching one of our personal planets or angles. According to Evolutionary Astrologer Jeffrey Wolf Green, there are three Uranian reactions: 1) suppressing it 2) reckless action 3) gradual action. The third is ideal. The gradual changes help calculate the risks to move you into the unknown with confidence.

The aspects indicate the level of ease or challenge. The squares and opposition present themselves as unwelcome changes. The trines and sextile is supportive and the surprise can feel beneficial. Ultimately, it is in your hands whether Uranus pulls the rug out from under you or if you begin to move the furniture around, roll up that rug yourself, sweep up the dust from the layers flying off, and start making changes.

Similar to the relationship we have with Saturn (societal, cultural, and familial constructs), we tend to fall back on what we know. One of the layers of our Saturn outlines is our ego identity. As I mentioned in a previous post, the authoritative planet serves as the gateway between our personal experiences and social interactions. The ringed planet helps us make sense and put order in our lives. How we have built it, what it means and how well it has given us security and a place of belonging. The very reason why people default to suppressing and avoiding Uranus’ calling.

What you built (Saturn) down your path to give you purpose (Sun) is wrapped up in your ego identity, which can be considered your outer appearance, the path of desires that have given it skin of pride. When we embrace Uranus’ incoming shifts, we break-free from previous ego identity and evolve into a new version that helps serve the collective’s emerging ideals.

How it relates to Pluto in Aquarius (Ruled by Uranus)

Pluto in Aquarius opposes the Leo area of our lives and indirectly our Sun. (more intensely for others if the opposition hits an angle or natal planets). Leo areas will contend with Pluto’s required deep transformations. It will be a clash between self-expression, identity and expressions of community and group connections. Those who resist change and hold on to pride or self-serving intentions will be hit with a dose of Pluto reality, a crisis point.

Pluto is our shared internalized drives. The powerful planet is transforming the collective and how we connect as a community, globally, how we work, and live as humans. It will burn down all that isn’t Pluto vetted to the ground, making things even-steven and reallocating and redefining power dynamics.

Uranus in GeminiKeywords

  • Aquarius: lateral, community oriented, fairness, equality
  • Leo: top down, rising and top tier power; god-like worship, celebrity /kingly oriented control

Pluto in Leo Generation Transformation

The largest generation in the last 5O years is the Boomers who belong to the Pluto Leo group (1937-1958). Up until the last few years, we, as a collective, functioned in the ethos of the Pluto Leo Generation.

Basic shared attitude: self-importance, hubris, grandeur

Trends: materialism, 60’s consumerism, 70’s glamour, 80’s opulence, 90’s celebrity fame.

The Notions of Status and Power is Shifting: Who Holds it and Who is Losing it. Pluto is helping to Rebuild a New Structure.

Reflective of Leo characteristics and changes, we see more celebrities outed from their ivory towers.

Ben Affleck, on the Theo Von show, admitted that it isn’t the same for celebrities as it was when he was coming up in the ranks back in the 90s. Famous people were removed from reality. Their god-like status served their careers well. It kept the illusions of the characters they played.

Robert Downey Jr. once said, it’s no fun to be famous anymore. There’s no hiding from public scrutiny and criticism. Some of the criticism points to being out-of-touch, power grabs, and even cruelty and evil. Have you followed the Blake Lively controversy?

We all know that social media and technology have created a platform where everyone can be a celebrity, for better or for worse. Being part of a community, engaging in authentic dialogue and exchange, reflective of podcasts, gives value and traction. People want raw, minute data. Also, anyone noticed how more celebrities are now coming out and sitting in on podcasts?

Workplace Dynamics Shifting

In the work environment, the notions of leadership are evolving.  (1) The structures and ranks are shifting in power dynamics. Soft skills are seen as valuable as hard skills. Soft skills signify human connection (Aquarius) in the workplace. (2)

When Uranus enters Gemini, it will trine Pluto in Aquarius– July 7

How will this play out?

On a macro scale, our shared Pluto internal desires and drives in the Aquarius community, human connection & vision will become facilitated by the Uranus in Gemini changes and vice versa. In other words, rapid(Uranus) transformation (Pluto) in human connection and consciousness (Aquarius) via tech, communication and all things Gemini.

We already see progress and expansion:

We see Uranus’ influence through blockchain’s gradual integration into the norm as established banks and credit card companies scramble to compete with crypto and novel exchange platforms. We don’t need the middleman for our banking needs to validate our identity and the transactions. (3)

AI and its capabilities will continue to advance, providing us with instant information as we move forward. Traditional education? I see institutions drastically transformed within 10-20 years. We will be able to download or access information upon request via voice prompt. And eventually we will be able to seamlessly assimilate collective information—initially, via device, then evolve to accessing it consciously. (4)

The road to regenerative healing is being paved. Neuroscientist Dr. Michael Levin envisions that we’ll be able to heal ourselves from physical ills and psychological funk based on his research and discoveries. He believes the key to the regenerative process is our cells’ capability to think with agency.

The road to a regenerative cure involves studying cluster-separated cells that occur in cancer and “talking” to the cells to rejoin the group. He envisions healing as a process of controlling growth and form.

“He’s also working on AI that will be used as a translation tool to “talk” to cells and tissues with language.” You’ll be able to ask, “What’s up with my low mood?” And a response will be provided based on the cell’s state. Dr. Levin also sees the distant future and those in it as having not only the capacity to talk, think, and self-generate as they go, but also to form into any embodiment they wish. (5)

Neptune in Aries Enhanced Ego and Individuality

I further question the concept of ego and how it will fit into the new world as we connect in an hyper-augmented reality and ultimately beyond physical reality. Our sense of purpose, our chosen paths, may be less about our ego-driven desires and more about progress toward a connected purpose.

Neptune in Aries (individuality, ego identity blurred) will redefine our desires, focus and how we connect individually.  The sextile to Aquarius Pluto will stream ideas, changing who we are and what it means. What’s real? What is individual perception?

Astrologer Jessica Adams believes we will be more community-based, connected by pockets of shared beliefs and linked ideas, rather than a globalized network. Considering how the algorithm works and divides, her points seem valid.

She also says that our faces online (Aries) will be more deceptive. We can be anything we want to be with Neptune’s influence. Again, something we see more and more on our socials and the various avatars we create, as well as how AI personalities appear life-like and perform as humans.

What about beauty trends? Are we carving out a path that erases or blurs individual appearance? Will it evolve our ego identity?

The Ozempic era and the Kardashian and Jenner beauty standards have created a beauty contagion. When I see both young and mature ladies online, I can’t help but notice beauty fixes that resemble at least one member of the hugely influential reality TV clan. Beauty practices that were once only affordable for the ultra-rich will become accessible for the masses–the demand is there.

The Uranus in Gemini era is quite important, and understanding how it affects you and your stance on it. How will your ego allow for new modes of operation? Will it suppress, avoid the path of growth and your authentic contribution to a highly Uranian future? Or will it be open and adjust to possibilities?

Uranus Aspects To Sun Sign Elements

Once Uranus enters Gemini, the Sun will make its annual aspects of harmony and challenges. Each one will be short, but will convey messages of necessary changes impacting one’s purpose and soul’s path. Here’s what the changes could relate to for each element in the houses where it sits natally and in transit.

Fire Sun Signs: Ego identity related to marked self-expression and personal will.

Air Sun Signs: Ego identity related to connecting and communicating. Developing the mind.

Earth Sun Signs: Ego identity related to building, accumulating resources and understanding relationship to earthly senses.

Water Sun Signs: Ego identity related to expressing emotional intelligence and developing internal selves connected to others.

When Uranus in Gemini makes a:

  • Sextile to your Sun, the opportunities are available for you to seize and direct.
  • Squares to your Sun will create tension to move you into action
  • Opposition will require a balancing act to keep harmony
  • Trines open doors for you to walk through

Summary

The qualities of Uranus and the Sun are at odds. It’s essential to gain awareness of how your own Sun qualities block Uranus’ ideals and progression. As Pluto, the lord of deep gutting, is in the sign of Aquarius, the sign opposite to Leo (Sun-ruled), our understanding of being human, consciousness, and our dynamics will be tested and dispelled, challenging Leo sensibilities that, up until recently, have dominated our connected reality.

There is added value to understanding how Uranus will aspect your Sun signature ego and what changes you can make to keep you on a flourishing path, perhaps…one that will lay out a renewed purpose beyond Saturn’s conventional Rings.
