The Sun in Astrology: Vitamin Destiny
The Sun in Astrology: Our purpose, Goals and Destiny
Most people get introduced to astrology through their Sun sign.
What we may not know is that we don’t develop our Sun sign until around our mid 20’s. Back in the day, around early 20th century, the father of modern astrology, Alan Leo created Sun Horoscopes—making the language more digestible, in order to gain mass appeal. Thus, was born pop-astrology and mainstream knowledge of the Sun signs.
We relate more to our Moon sign in our early years, as it relates to the past, nurturing and the mother. The Moon is more personal, hidden, while the Sun in Astrology is out on display, the parts of us we tend to share and evolve towards.
According to Ptolemy, we go through different stages of our lives, each one divided by 7 stages that speak of the seven visible planets. We express our Moon sign energy from 0-4 years of age. From 4-14 would be with Mercury. While we develop our Venus energy the next 10 years. Then follows our Sun energy. In our mid 20’s, we learn how we want to shine, what makes us burn bright and what can extinguish our light.
Our Sun is our vitality and life force. It is our hero’s quest to develop the nature of our Sun sign. Whatever house it falls into can tell us where we source our Suns’ light. Where we are nourished by vitamin destiny. If your Sun is in the 5th house, you are recharged by creativity, fun, romance and children. On the opposite end, an 11th house Sun will be replenished by friends, group activities and being part of a cause or community. 11th houser Sun’s are lit up by creating and nourishing hopes and dreams.
As the main organ, the Sun in Astrology is the heart to who we are. Therefore, we constantly check in with our Sun and its needs through the qualities of the sign. How does it keep beating? A Scorpio will constantly need to go through transformations and develop emotional depth. An airy Gemini is destined to develop qualities of the mind and exchange of ideas. A Leo fire sign will constantly need to shine its light, burn its fire through creativity and leadership.
Like vitamin D boosting other organic compounds in our body, our Sun energy is the synthesizer, the connecter to all the elements of our chart. We resort to our Sun sign energy as we work with other cosmic bodies to keep the spokes of our life healthy and moving.
As the biggest, brightest star in our solar system it makes sense we are all aware of our Sun sign.
