What are Higher Octaves in Astrology? The 6 Planets Involved
What are Higher Octaves in Astrology? How can they help you navigate the rapid social shifts in the next two decades?
Key Points:
- Introduction To Octaves
- The 6 Planets Involved In Brief
- Expressing Higher Octaves To Help You Navigate
Our personal Mercury, Mars, and Venus planets vibrate to higher frequencies called octaves via the outer planets. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, and Pluto is the higher octave of Mars.
The qualities transcend the personal and are expressed on a higher level, connected beyond reality and into the unknown.
For example, Mercury rules the mind and communication. Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo. When we interact with others and share our ideas, we grow and learn new things. Uranus represents the collective mind, evolution. We grow by pushing ideas beyond what we have known before, disrupting the status quo with new possibilities.
Venus rules Taurus and Libra. In Taurus, it is about self-value and our preferences; in Libra, it is about our love for others and our value of partnerships. Neptune is the subtle collective connection. Through Neptune, Venus love transcends us to a spiritual connection: we are all the same, looking for the same thing. When we accept what is around us, we connect to others, to source —the ultimate, unconditional love.
Mars is the action, passion and desire planet. We fight for what we believe in, and to thrive can be a selfish act and necessary to survive. We confront adversities through challenges with our Mars energy, developing our physical strength and will. Pluto, on the other hand, transcends the physical to the psychological and our subconscious desires; we fight our shadows, fears, traumas and karma to gain psychological strength and empowerment by transforming deep within.
How can transcending your personal planets help you navigate the social shifts in the next few years?
Mercury/Uranus
Mercury rules the mind, communication and daily interaction.
On a daily basis, we are busy with our schedules, planning, communicating and interacting with our family, physical and online friends and co-workers. We navigate life negotiating with ourselves and others, and make choices. We become knowledgeable and learn to make our lives run more efficiently and smoothly.
In learning what works, we find the routines that help us maintain our lives through daily work and health habits and the things that we enjoy enough to do consistently. The developed routine puts order into our lives.
With Uranus, we think of improving on a larger scale that affects the collective. Think about the advent of the computer and the internet age, how it has changed and accelerated how we think, connect and work. It has become our routine, part of our mundane lives. It’s made our days more efficient by improving our lives with instant communication and speedier travel. AI will get us on an even faster, Dubai-like highway of thought and interaction.
When you transcend your Mercury into its Uranus expression, your ideas expand, and you’re geared to think outside the box, which can help you glide into the freeway of changes much more smoothly. Uranus is going to keep us on our toes when it goes into Gemini in May. We are starting to see it with TikTok and how the temporary ban has affected social connection. We also saw it with Deepseek Ai and how it has disrupted our use case of AI and our view on its efficiency–you can make AI from AI in a shorter time frame than we were led to believe. The disruption and changes give us an idea of what’s ahead.
Questions to consider:
What do you need to improve on? What skills do you have to upgrade? How can you connect in new ways? Make it a daily practice to keep learning and improving. Find the tribe to help you evolve into an upgraded version of yourself.
Consider Pluto in Aquarius, which signifies the importance of community and the drastic changes happening. Pluto in Aquarius highlights working to improve our connection and ways you can contribute and authentically stand out from the noise.
Venus/Neptune
Venus rules love, relationships and our preferences.
Venus rules Taurus, what we have and value. It also rules the second house of self and resources. Venus-ruled Libra is about relationships and, the other, the concept of higher beauty. When we value ourselves and gain the confidence to maintain resources and sustenance, we can form healthier relationships with boundaries. We look for love that reflects our values and those that can add to our self-esteem and worth.
Neptune is the ultimate love, the collective love and our subtle connection. It’s our spiritual and universal tie. When we have accepted ourselves as who we are and gained love through relationships, we expand that love into something bigger, beyond us. When you are in Neptune love, you accept things for what they are, as they are. Like a gift you don’t have to work for, it’s there for you to receive the unifying love.
By understanding the relationship between Venus and its higher octave Neptune, you realize that self-acceptance is the key to connecting to that unifying love. I am love; therefore, you are love. We are a mirror of our environment. Our values and feelings about ourselves reflect our connection or isolation to the world. Neptune will be changing signs from its elevated energy in Pisces to the independent spirit of Aries. Go here to read more on Neptune in Aries.
Generally, on a personal level, the transit can confuse our identity, our passion, individual path and desires in certain areas of life. But understanding our values, working on our self-worth and what that means can be that beam of light in the haze. It’s about asking yourself your preferences, what values you uphold, and what maintains your self-confidence.
Saturn (overarching power) will limit individuality. Its 2.5 years of transit in Aries (May 2025-2028) will curb your desires and block ways to go for it. Use the time to develop more enlightened interest, to focus on what truly matters and how you can personally cultivate more love and less ego, connecting your desire to get an overall feel-good energy.
Mars/Pluto
Mars is our passion, desire, and our will to achieve it. The energy represents our developing physical strength and our actions through challenges. We grow when we overcome challenges and fear. We constantly need to assert our needs and fight for them to survive.
Pluto revitalizes, transforms and fuels you with new resources of energy.
You transcend your Mars warrior energy into the spiritual warrior by working with your Pluto shadows and all that has been left buried in the dark, in the past, and what’s left of it. You are strengthened further by confronting the unsavoury, your subconscious, what’s held you back. When you have fought and accepted this part of yourself, they are no longer obstacles. You’ve owned them and become empowered deeply. The transformation is a renewal of self-trust and self-reliance that sharpens your instinct—recharging your Mars qualities.
Connected to the transits Pluto in Aquarius (collective and personal) and Neptune in Aries, you can ask yourself what needs to change, what needs a spurt of evolution to keep your passions burning, conquer fear and doubt and perform to next-level heights.
Neptune in Aries
Neptune is about experiencing what is. When it transits our charts, its influences will have you confronting the non-tangible. In Aries, themes of self-identity, action and desire slowly take on a new meaning. To navigate Neptune in Aries, we employ our instinctual prowess. We act beyond our physical strength and harness our spiritual beliefs.
By your transcended Mars qualities and the self-trust you’ve gained, you also know what to trust outside yourself. You move through Neptune waters by feeling and gut. Neptune is the fresh element added to your identity, fins that upgrade you, perhaps beyond anything you’ve felt before. By default, you understand our connection to each other through compassion, creativity, and spirituality, which can bring you to heightened levels to overcome challenges, fuel your Mars force or motivate you into fresh Aries inspirational, trailblazing trajectories.
